Choose your budget. It's always empowering to set your limits for gifts before you start the nitty gritty shopping. There are lots of beautiful baby gift baskets that might lure you into spending a ton of money, so know your limits beforehand!
Step 2

Choose whether you want to buy a boy, girl or neutral baby gift basket. If you're not absolutely sure what the sex of the baby is, then go for neutral.
Step 3

Narrow down the specifics. Do you want to buy flowers with a stuffed animal, perhaps, which can please both parents and baby, or do you strictly want to buy for the newborn? Another option is to buy a food or wine gift basket for the new parents to help them relax with a note that says, "Can't wait to spoil that baby in person!"

Many baby gift baskets come with practical items for a baby like burpies, onesies, baby lotion and pacifiers. Some include keepsake picture frames or ceramic jars. Practical items are always appreciated by new parents, but if something memorable catches your eye then go for it.

Choose your method. Do you mind paying for shipping on an online gift basket website? If you are far away from the new parents, then you might have to choose this route, but don't worry, you can still stay in your budget.

You might be able to put together your own baby gift basket and mail it yourself - sometimes this ends up costing just as much as buying a pre-made though!

Step 6

Think practical. When putting together your own baby gift basket, here are some items to think about adding: diapers - buy a size or two up (since many babies are born bigger than newborn size), receiving blankets or a nice, soft quality baby blanket, baby Q-tips, organic baby lotion or baby wash, clothes for 3 or 6 months old babies, baby wipes, and did we say diapers?

*Do the parents have a baby registry somewhere? You can buy items off their registry and put those into a gift basket!
